GET OUT AND VOTE
Dear Members:
With the mid-term elections less than a week away, we feel compelled to remind our members that the single-most important contribution that you can make to our industry is to vote. We realize that this is the busiest time of the year for medical marijuana providers, however, voting is more than a constitutionally-guaranteed privilege. Your vote is crucial to the candidates that support our industry. We should remember that the Democratic Party has added support for medical marijuana to their party platform. Your choice. Your vote.
On another note, MSUB has published the results of a poll that was taken within the last 3 weeks. One of the questions posed to the respondents was “Do you support the recreational use of marijuana?” 60% of the respondents were opposed to recreational use of marijuana, while 30% were in favor of it. There was no mention of medical marijuana in that survey.
That survey reaffirms MTCIA’s position that we need to stay focused on amending SB 423 to achieve a workable medical marijuana law that is self-sustaining and serves the best interests of Montanans. We continue to garner the support of legislators who are willing to work with our organization toward that end.
The next-best contribution that you can make is your continued donations toward our legislative efforts. While our staff works tirelessly without pay, our lobbyist will not. That will be the next expense that we must address before the legislative session begins.
Have a safe and fun Halloween!
Yours in Solidarity,
Mort Reid
President, MTCIA
